New installs / New Servers / New PCs / Other software changes

Dear Customers:

We would like to re-issue this advice, first issued in February 2013, with regard to changes in your configuration.  We have recently encountered a number of situations where we received no advance notice of changes and regrettabely, there has been some disappointment when we have been unable to complete the requested task having had very short, or no notice.  Please note that, without advance, we can only do our best, based on the work at hand at the time of your request, to complete it in your preferred timeframe.

If you are planning to replace a pc or server, or upgrade a pc or server, it is important to let us know well in advance so that we can plan this with you and ensure minimal disruption to your business.  This also applies if you are planning any change in the configuraiton of the system on which Fleetminder operates.

This is especially important if you are going to change other associated software, e.g., your accounting application (e.g., Sage), or database.  While many updates and upgrades should go smoothly, there is no assurance whatsoever that a new version of associated software, such as Sage, will continue to work with the existing Fleetminder installation without change.  Often, we will have to make changes to Fleetminder to accomodate changes made by Microsoft or software publishers such as Sage.  We need notice for this so that we can make the changes and complete our testing cycles before we release these new versions for live use.

Sometimes, we are contacted by our customer once the change has been made, new PC installed, new Sage version installed and frequently, we then encounter a delay as we work as quickly as possible to schedule the necessary resources.  This can be frustrating for our customer, as it is for us.

The solution is to contact us as early as possible, even when just in the planning stage.  We can then work with you so that you get the result you want when you want it.

Thank you.
